In the 1950s (after failing as an actor), he designed dresses for actresses including Jane Russell, Dorothy Lamour, and Jayne Mansfield. He also gives awards for the best dressed female of the year, but that list gets less publicity.
In 1995, he wrote an autobiography, From Rags to Bitches (ISBN 1-881649-57-1).
